The Western Province Tourism Board is a statutory body established under Enactment No. 03 of 1994.  This institution was established with the objective of  sustainable utilization of the tourism potentiality in the province.

The Western Province in extent of 3782 Sq.Km. consist with a number of various potentialities that could be developed as tourist destinations within the province.  The province is the economic administrative center and, the key access points such as Colombo port, International airport are located in the province which are specially important for touris affairs.

Chairman’s Message

The Tourist Board of the Western Provincial Council strives to improve constantly the tourism and hospitality industry facilities in the Western Province so that guests to our country enjoy the best possible experiences during their stay. Annually the Tourism Board implements several key tourism development initiatives targeted at enhancing infrastructural facilities and service provision.

In order to create sustainable development in tourism, it is imperative that service providers in the sector are also upgrading keeping with developments elsewhere in the economy. Therefore, regular training and skills development programs are carried out for all tiers of service providers.

We are keen to enlighten the “Colombo’’ as a specific indoor destination within Western Province (WP). Upgrading current theme of ‘Tourism and Jobs: A better future for all’

Tourist board (WP) objected to empower job generating and training network around Sri Lanka, which will be able to develop effective and quality service providing system based on western province.

The Amazing Sri Lanka magazine, published by the Council, aims to serve as a definitive guide for the discerning traveler. The magazine provides invaluable insights to travel in Sri Lanka and is one of the foremost tourism publications in the country.
