"Ruk Soba" Tree Planting Program Pilikuttuwa

Pilikuttuwa is one of the most naturally and historically endowed destination located in Yakkala Gampaha District, Western Province of Sri Lanka. It caters multiple tourism sectors with its uniqueness. Pilikuttuwa is also famous for its significance in Eco tourism with a significant rate of Bio diversity. It also inherits large scale bio diversity and provides a healthy breeding ground for many Monocots and indigenous species. In recent past Pilikuttuwa secured its position as a well preserved ecosystem despite of the partial urbanization which was carried out at a considerable scale. In order to preserve this endowed Treasure to future generation and reap its benefits globally organizing and conduct Tree Planting Campaigns was a much needed involvement as responsible citizens and organizations ensuring the sustainability of this valuable Ecosystem. In view of the above circumstances concerns grown to enhance the preservation methods to minimize the negative human impacts over this eco system and insure its sustainability. Taking this timely need as a responsibility, The "Ruk Soba - Tree planting programmer" was organized and held on 10th April 2024 under the leadership and patronage of Western Provincial Tourist Board. "Summer Explorers" extended the sponsorship to make this event a great success. The Venerable Chief Incumbent Thero of Pilikuttuwa Sacred grounds, Tourists and Staff of the Ministry of Local Government (W.P) were Present at the event. The Community engagement and their support towards the event were much highlighted. Tourist Board Western Province is taking all sustainable measures and organizing events to ensure the sustainability of all Eco systems and Historical sites in order to preserve and develop the conditions accordingly.
